Various materials are used for gates, but steel is by far the most common – Gates fall into three groups – slide, swing and pedestrian gates. Slide gates are the most costly solution, but often the only option due to space constraints. Gates can be equipped with automatic opening and closing systems. Swing gates are simpler solutions but they can also be automated. Pedestrian gates are also an important entry system component as they see more frequent use than other types of gates. They can also be automated in various ways, with closing mechanisms, magnetic locks, intercom buzzer systems, fingerprint readers and so on. Gates are generally finished in analogous fashion to the surrounding fence. They can be bought in the same style of the fencing – mesh, steel, sheet metal or wood. A gate frame is yet another option – in that case, you install the wood siding on the gate yourself.
